  • Yoda #10: From Corporate Law to Business and Human Rights. Conniel Malek is Executive Director of the True Costs Initiative. Prior to this role, Conniel practiced corporate law for ten years at a multinational corporation. She is a daughter of the Caribbean, from the island of Jamaica, and is passionate about the issues of climate justice in the Caribbean and broadening of the definition of what constitutes scientific and other technical expertise in the business and human rights space and this has deeply informed the work she has prioritized and guided at TCI.
  • Yoda #9: Adventures in Social Impact with Data and Research. Anjana Sundaram is currently an MBA graduate intern at Kaiser Permanente on their community health team and a recent graduate from the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley. Anjana learned the essentials of the social impact space from her 7 years at the Gates Foundation and a multitude of volunteer projects at nonprofits.

  • Yoda #7: Empowering Survivors to End Sexual Violence. Nikole Lim is the founder and International Director of nonprofit Freely in Hope. With programs in Kenya and Zambia, Freely in Hope equips survivors and advocates to lead in ending the cycle of sexual violence. Freely in Hope has a three-tiered program of holistic education (through scholarships), leadership development, and storytelling platforms. 
  • Yoda #6: From Engineering to Public Policy to Philanthropy. After a quarter-life crisis, Nancy Chan left her career in Silicon Valley and moved to Washington, DC to help inner-city nonprofit Little Lights Urban Ministries, get off the ground. She then worked in campus ministry at Georgetown University, and got a Master’s in Public Policy there. After working in policy research and evaluation at the Urban Institute and SRI International, she moved onto philanthropy at Arabella Advisors and now at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

  • Yoda #4 Perspective: Your Job Already Has Social Impact! Mo-Yun Lei Fong is Sr. Director, Google Technical Solutions, Assistant and Search; she was previously Google’s Director, Computer Science Education, Catalyst for Equity in Education, and Chief Compliance Officer for Google Payments. She began her career as a school teacher and then was promoted to assistant principal at Monta Vista High School. She then went on to Harvard Business School and became the founding executive director of the Stanford Educational Leadership Institute, prior to joining Google.

Keoke King is co-founder and CEO of Participant Assistive Products, a social enterprise which designs and produces wheel chairs, strollers, and other assistive products for people with disabilities globally.
  • Yoda #2: Economic Growth Director for International NGO. Karla Yoder is Technical Director of Economic Growth for Global Communities, an international development organization.
  • Yoda #1: Director of Social Impact for Fintech Startup. Maureen Klovers is the Director of Social Impact for MPOWER Financing. Among other experiences, she previously taught the urban poor in Ecuador, worked in US Intelligence, was a Presidential Management Fellow for the US Department of Commerce, and helped launch the US Department of Treasury’s State Small Business Credit Initiative.
